Socious is a talent marketplace that connects purpose-driven talent with their dream jobs. The platform leverages blockchain technology to make social and environmental impact work traceable, transparent, and rewarding. The current app has been operational for a while, and there is a need to redesign it to make it more user-friendly, visually appealing, and intuitive. The objective of this project is to redesign Socious app to improve the user experience and increase user engagement.

Overview

Problem Statement

The Socious app is currently difficult for users to navigate, with a confusing and cluttered interface. As a result, the app is not meeting the needs of its users and is not effectively connecting purpose-driven talent with their dream jobs.

Objective

To design a new and improved user interface for the Socious app that is easy to use, visually appealing, and effective in connecting purpose-driven talent with their dream jobs.

User Stories

  • As a candidate, I want to be able to easily search and apply for job listings that align with my skills and values.
  • As an employer, I want to be able to easily post job listings and find qualified candidates who align with my organization’s mission and values.
  • As a user, I want to have a clear understanding of how Socious uses blockchain technology to make impact work traceable and reward contributions with crypto tokens.

Scope

 The scope of this project includes the redesign of the Socious app’s user interface, including all screens and interactions. This redesign will be tested with a group of users to ensure it meets their needs and effectively connects them with the right job opportunities.

  • The redesign must maintain the current functionality of the app
  • The redesign must comply with blockchain and crypto regulations
  • The redesign must be completed within the given timeframe
  • Limited resources and budget

Process

Discover

  • Competitive analysis: We will research similar platforms in the impact and talent marketplace space to understand their strengths and weaknesses and identify opportunities for differentiation.
  • User research: We will conduct interviews and surveys with current and potential users of Socious, including talent and employers, to gain insight into their pain points and needs.

Define

  • Design brief: Based on the findings from the discover phase, we will define the design brief outlining the problem statement, goals, and objectives for the redesign of Socious.
  • Design system: We will create a design system that will guide the design process and ensure consistency across all elements of the app, including typography, color, iconography, and layout.
  • Logo redesign: We will update the Socious logo to better reflect the brand's mission and values.

Develop

  • Wireframes: We will create wireframes of the key screens of the app, focusing on the user flow and navigation.
  • Prototypes: We will develop interactive prototypes of the wireframes to test and validate the design concepts with users.
  • User testing: We will conduct user testing with the prototypes to gather feedback and iterate on the design.

Deliver

  • Final design: Based on the feedback and testing, we will finalize the design of the Socious app and prepare it for development.
  • Brand guidelines: I created a brand guidelines document that will serve as a reference for future design decisions and ensure consistency across all touchpoints.
  • Implementation: I will work with the development team to ensure that the design is implemented correctly and efficiently. (if given the chance)

The Solution

The new and improved Socious app will have a user-friendly interface, making it easy for purpose-driven talent to search and apply for job listings that align with their skills and values. Employers will also have an easy time posting job listings and finding qualified candidates who align with their organization's mission and values. Using blockchain technology, it will make impact work traceable and reward contributions with crypto tokens.

Reflecting on the project

After a lot of professional work and experience at my job at YallaMotor, I was used to sticking to one kind of UI design system. This for me came as an opportunity, which also made me excited to test my skills and play with the design for a designer’s pleasure. Goal of Socious aligned with my interests i.e. using tech to do social good, and raise impact on the world. I thoroughly enjoyed the process, regardless of the fact that I didn’t get the position of a Senior Product Designer at Socious, since it required a 10+ years of experience.
